The Coastline ROP CNA (Pre-Certification) Internship course offers quality healthcare career training based on employer-driven requirements, knowledgeable faculty, and staff, and provides a supportive environment. The 8-week program provides expert training in preparation to sit for the State Certified Nurse Assistant Exam and become a California Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). Students will learn basic nursing care, emergency procedures, communication, and how to work effectively as a healthcare team member. After initial classroom instruction, students will intern at a skilled nursing facility.

Coastline County ROP’s CNA (Pre-Certification) Internship course is approved by the California Department of Education and licensed by the California Department of Health. All Coastline ROP courses are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Students who successfully complete the program will be assisted in the process of applying to take the State Certified Nurse Assistant exam and American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers card.

Students must be at least 16 years of age. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the internship site. Students must have a U.S. Government Issued ID and a Social Security Card (unlaminated). Students must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, including a booster shot, as required by the internship site. The Flu vaccine is highly recommended.

Students must bring their Social Security card, valid U.S. government ID, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the first class session, or they will be dropped. Live Scan fingerprinting, physical exam, TB clearance, and vaccinations are required for all students prior to internship. Individuals with convictions other than a minor traffic violation are recommended to obtain a criminal clearance from the Department of Health Services before registering for this class.
